Here’s how you can use Change Agent to craft effective Op-Eds and Letters to the Editor.

Creating Effective Op-Eds

Step 1: Define Your Topic and Audience

Identify the issue you want to address in your Op-Ed, considering current events, personal experiences, or policy debates. Determine which publication(s) you’d like to submit to and understand their target audience.

Step 2: Develop a Compelling Argument

Use Change Agent to analyze relevant data, research, or expert opinions on your topic. Ask Change Agent to provide evidence-based arguments, statistics, and examples that support your stance.

• To upload the information as a file
  • Click the “+” symbol to the left of the prompt window
  • Choose your file

•  To load the information from a webpage
  • Copy the entire URL (NOTE: if the URL is for a Google Doc or other cloud service, make sure that sharing is set to “Anybody with the link”)
  • Type “#” into the Change Agent prompt window and paste your URL immediately after the “#”
  • Click on the gray dialog window that says #[URL] to load the information

Step 3: Prompt Change Agent to Draft Your Op-Ed

Ask Change Agent to generate a draft Op-Ed based on your topic, argument, and target audience. Use a prompt such as "Write an Op-Ed for [PUBLICATION NAME] arguing in favor of [TOPIC]." Regenerate at least five times to explore different tone and style options.

Step 4: Review & Revise

Choose the version that you like most and ask follow-up prompts to refine your draft. Ensure that your Op-Ed is clear, concise, and engaging.

Step 5: Finalize and Submit

Once satisfied with your draft, proofread it carefully and submit it to your chosen publication(s).
